How often should I paint my house?

How often you should paint your home answer is dependent on the state your home is in now.  You must get the exterior of your home substrates protected as soon as possible if it is not already being protected by a good paint coating.  Do you see wood/siding damage and faded paint?   I strongly urge you to get the damaged wood and siding replaced.  Then, with a very good quality paint get the coverage needed to protect the substrate for your home.

    • Exteriors of your home is exposed to the elements of all kinds of weather changes.  From the bright sun to a few too many thunderous hard-hitting rainstorm and even more higher-level climatic incidents. Walk around your home look for plants, shrubbery touching your house.  Think about how that constant rubbing on the protective coating takes off time of protection. Look for areas that has paint that is fading or even peeling.  Other things to look for is bubbling, cracking, flaking, and exposed wood.  Is the exposed wood looking very interesting?  If it is in need of a little investigation work; try, pushing it with your finger.  Is the area hard or soft?  If it is soft the wood must be replaced.  All the wood decay must be addressed before putting on a protective coat of paint.  Now, on the repainting of the exterior of your home.  When the protective coat is applied correctly using good quality paint your home can last from 7 to 10 years before needing to be protected again.  Other factors do come into the equation of when is it time to repaint.  Word to the wise, the rule of thumb is to get an estimator that has experience in painting on out to your home.  Nothing is better than an onsite expert. hashtag “free estimate”

    • Interior of your home is not exposed to the elements of the weather.  However, the elements of pets, children, rages of anger, accidents, water damage from various different ways can put the immediate need to get an area painted.  Using high quality paint while applying it correctly are the key factors to longevity.  With proper care of your home, it will not “need” painting for 10 to 15 years or more.  Mostly, interior repainting of properly cared for homes are because we would like a change in color or mood of our home.
